Kano children’s parliament advocates passage of child protection bill

Children’s parliament is a  unique platform for children to exploit their potential on matters related to politics and good  governance.

The Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Mr Hamisu Chidari made the indication while inaugurating newly elected officials of Kano Children’s Parliament, at Kano State House of Assembly.

Mr Hamisu Chidari said the Assembly remained dedicated to the development of children as leaders of tomorrow.

Represented by the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Dashi, who is also the Chairman House Standing Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr Chidari charged the new children parliamentarians to work assiduously to achieve the desired objectives.

Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Zahra’u Muhammad Umar explained that  children’s parliament offers teenagers with the opportunity to achieve their needs and aspirations.

Dr Zahra’u reaffirmed her ministry’s readiness in protecting children against all forms of oppression.

In her acceptance speech, the newly sworn in speaker children’s parliament, Miss Hauwa Muhammad called for speedy passage of the Kano State Child Protection Bill.

She said that the children’s parliament fourth Assembly, would focus more attention on protecting children and ensuring that they achieve their full potential for the development of the nation.

Miss Hauwa urged Kano State House of Assembly, to be more proactive on issues related to children by establishing a Committee on children affairs.
