NIPOST clamps down on illegal logistics companies

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) says its efforts in sanitizing the nations courier services sector is meant to gaurd against security breaches and criminal practices.

The General Manager, Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department (CLRD) of NIPOST, Mr Gideon Shonde,
stated this while leading an enforcement excercise and clampdown team on illegal Logistics Operators in Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking to Journalists during the exercise, Mr Shonde said the clampdown was meant to sanitize the courier industry from the menace of quacks and illegal logistics operators who use their services to aide crime. 

He said the essence of the exercise was also to rid the system of unlicensed and untreacable operators who perpetrate unethical practices and breaches such as arms smuggling, drug trafficking, property theft, tampering, lost documents, damaged items.

The enforcement exercise was carried out by a combined taskforce team from CLRD, NIPOST Investigation and Security operations, Police Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(FCIID) Lagos, Officers from FCT Command led by the Assistant General Manager in charge of Ethics,Complain and Strategy.
