NYSC extends service year of 74 FCT Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps in the Federal Capital Territory has extended the service year of 74 out of the 4,472 outgoing corps members of 2021 batch B, stream 1 for committing various offences during their national service.

The FCT Coordinator of the NYSC, Mallam Suleiman Abdul stated this during the passing out parade of the corps members held at the old parade ground in Abuja.

Mr. Abdul applauded the efforts of the Corps members for their selflessness and humanitarian services rendered to their host communities.

The NYSC FCT Coordinator NYSC explained that the corps members who breached the rules guiding the service year would serve various degrees of punishment.

The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu represented by the Chairman NYSC FCT governing board, Hajia Hadiza Mohammed-Kabir said the impact of the NYSC on the socio-economic development of the country was enormous, pointing out contributions in areas such as education, health, agriculture and infrastructural in the territory.

The Minister also called on the corps members to uphold the aspiration of the scheme by creating jobs for themselves instead of waiting for white-collar jobs.

High point of the event was the presentation of Awards of excellence to 2 Corps members while  5 Corps members also received letters of Commendation from the Management of the NYSC.
