Cleric tasks Christians on practical love

Christians have been admonished to look out for opportunities of helping people in need at all times as directed by the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible.

The Officiating priest at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Reverend Father Michael-Maria Nzume gave the advice while giving a sermon on the need for Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper during a Thanksgiving Service.

Reading from the Book of Luke Chapter ten from verse 32 to 42, the Reverend explained that the virtue of true neighbour remained the one that intervened and reached out to those in need.

Reverend Father NzumeHe said that although the Good Samaritan was rushing for business, he took time to help the man in need and deposited resources for his upkeep until he returns.

National Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Professor Dickson Akoh advised security agencies to be proactive instead of being reactive and urged Nigerians to be more security conscious.

He pointed out that the recent attacks and kidnapping of men of God, as well as other Nigerians were disturbing and urged security agencies ensure adequate intelligence and prevention.

Professor Akoh said the focus of the organization remained to ensuring that the Bill for an act to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps which would create more job opportunities for youths was passed into law.

Our correspondent reports that members of the the Peace Corps used the opportunity to present thanksgiving offerings in commemoration of the organization’s 24th anniversary and founder’s Day.
