Labour Party, Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi

The Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, has described the Labour Party, LP, Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi,  as a man with impeccable credentials to run the affairs of this country.

Governor Ortom’s eulogies on Mr Obi came after the Labour Party presidential standard bearer paid him a courtesy visit at his private residence in Makurdi, Benue State, where the two leaders met behind closed doors before jointly addressing journalists.

The governor, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said Mr Obi was one of those qualified Nigerians that the people were looking forward to lead the country.

Governor Ortom said the situation in the country called for all to be careful and pray to God for leaders who mean well for the survival of the nation.

He challenged presidential candidates of the various political parties in the next year’s general election to put Nigeria above personal interests.

Governor Ortom commended the decision of the former Governor of Anambra State to engage Nigerians, especially major players in the country’s politics, irrespective of political leaning, on his desire to serve as the country’s next President.

The Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, said he was visiting the Benue State Governor as his former ally in the PDP, remarking that their friendship as citizens of the same country was more important than their party differences now.

In his response to the question that he did not have the needed structures to win elections, Mr Obi reiterated that the millions of Nigerians who had been impoverished by bad leadership over an extended period were his structure.
