Beach Volleyball Championship ends in Taraba

The Taraba State Inter Local Government and Clubs Beach Volleyball Championship 2022 has ended in Jalingo, the State capital, North-East Nigeria.

The competition organized by some volleyball veterans: Jonah Adamu, Friday, and Kefas JFK brought together thirty different volleyball teams across the state who contested keenly in the championship.

The final took place at the beach volleyball court of the Jolly Nyame Stadium in male and female categories from 19-24 july 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, the lead organizer, Jonah Adamu said the motive behind organizing the competition was to hunt for talents and as well foster unity and understanding among the youths in the state.

Adamu expressed satisfaction with the performance and conduct of the athletes during the competition which featured the maiden beach volleyball in the Northeast.

Commenting on the competition, the Taraba State Director of Sports, George Shitta commended the organizers for their effort in promoting volleyball in the state and called on private individuals as well as corporate organizations to invest in sports as the government alone cannot do it.

He said sports as one of the major unifying factors is playing a significant role in reducing the high rate of social vices among the youths in the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman Volleyball association in Taraba State, Ahmed Jobdi lauded the organizers and encouraged the athletes to rededicate their commitment through regular training and exercise to keep themselves fit.

Highlights of the ceremony were the presentation of medals to Team Gagariga, Team Airtel, and Team Chairman who were all victorious in the three finals played.
