Pharmacists have called on the state and federal governments to pay maximum attention to providing better condition of service to health workers in the country to enhance optimal productivity.
The call was made on Monday during a scientific conference in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, by Mr Olabode Ogunjemiyo, National Chairman of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria.
One of the lessons from the COVID 19 epidemic, according to Mr Ogunjemiyo, was for leaders to look inward and devote significant resources to the creation of domestic pharmaceutical goods rather than relying on foreign aid.
”Between January and July 2022, more than 200 pharmacists departed the country for foreign countries because of the deplorable conditions of service and security” Mr Olabode Ogunjemiyo stated.
Activities lined up for the conference include provision of free medical service to over one thousand residents of Nasarawa state and campaigns against drug abuse led by wife of the Nasarawa State Governor, Hajiya Silifat Sule.
The theme of the Conference is “Covid-19 Experience: Examining The Role of Health System Pharmacists”.
