Nigeria’s Falconets have made it to the FIFA U-20 women’s world cup quarter-finals after an impressive win over Canada.
The group stage game, which ended 3-1, was played in the early hours of Thursday, August 18. Esther Onyenezide scored two penalties and the third goal came from Chioma Olise in extra time.

The Dutch team started off with a loss in their first game against Japan but managed to turn things around with a 3-1 win over the USA and a 4-1 bombardment of another African representative, Ghana.
The falconets who have won their last three games will face the Netherlands in the quarter-final, come Monday, August 22. The game will take place at La Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, the same venue as the Falconets’ previous matches.
