ARCON ban use of foreign models, voice over artists

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, has banned  the use of foreign models and voice over artistes in the Nigerian advertising industry, with effect from the 1st of October this year.

The Director General of ARCON, Dr Olalekan Fadolakpo, stated this in Lagos while briefing Journalists on the new ARCON Law and frame work of the regulatory body.

Dr Fadolakpo, said the move was necessary to develop the country’s economy, going by the over 200million talented voices in Nigeria, who could do better and generate money for the country.

He stressed that ARCON was ready to prosecute any person or organisation that breached any provision of the Act or code of Advertising practice.

Director General of ARCON explained that ARCON, now has its own Advertising Tribunal, to prosecute violators of the law and also revoke their licenses.

The forum had in attendance the Director of Regulation, Mrs Ijedi Iyoha, Director Southern Region, Mrs Martha Onyebuchi and Director Registration, Mr Joe Onuorah.
