Seven people including secretary to the Benin Traditional council Mr Frank Irabor were on Thursday remanded in prison custody after their arraignment before Edo state vacation judge, justice Mary Itsueli for invading Ulegun community and demolishing houses.
The seven suspects chief Oko-eboh Ebosele, Aghavbere Osawemwengguan, Abel Oko-eboh, Tuesday Atagamene, Okechukwe Okeke, Ode uloko and Frank Irabor were arrested on the 31st of August 2022 for forcefully demolishing about 60 completed and uncompleted houses in the community, taking over the lands and promoting inter communal conflicts in the area.
The police investigation officer Inspector Ehiogie Goddey told the court that the suspects were arranged following conclusion of investigations.
Counsel to the Edo state commissioner of Police, Mr. Policap Odion moved the expertie motion for their remand which was granted by Justice Itsueli pending advice from the state department of public prosecution.
While the 3rd, 5th and 6th suspects were represented by a counsel Ms Martha Imufu, the 1St, 2nd 4th and 7th suspects appeared without legal representation.
The case was there after adjourned to the 15th of September 2022
