A middle-aged had been apprehended by the police for allegedly shooting his elder brother to death in Okpunoeze village Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State.

The suspect, Peter Orji, allegedly killed his elder brother Godwin Orji for disconnecting his apartment’s electricity over non-payment of a bill.

According to an eyewitness account, the incident followed an argument that ensued between the two brothers over electricity bills and disconnection.

The suspect was said to have failed to pay his monthly electricity bill of One Thousand, Five Hundred Naira which made the brother disconnect his apartment light, which led to the quarrel.

It was gathered that in the process of the disconnection, the suspect rushed into his room, grabbed a gun, and shot dead his elder brother.

Confirming the incident in an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect had been arrested by police operatives in the area.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng has also ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.

DSP Ikenga reiterated the call by the Commissioner of Police, urging members of the public not to take laws into their hands but report any issue to the nearest police station for proper action.
