Ondo Abduction: One rescued, 31 still missing

The police have rescued one of the victims who was kidnapped together with 32 others in Ondo over the weekend.

According to state police, the victim who was rescued is now assisting in the rescue of others.

According to the State Police Department’s spokesperson, Superintendent Funmilayo Odunlami, gunmen kidnapped a total of 32 travelers near Ifon in Ondo State’s Ose Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday while the victims were returning to Edo State after attending a funeral.

It has not yet been confirmed whether or whether the kidnappers have attempted to contact the families of the victims in order to obtain ransom payments.

Gbenga Olofinmoyegun, the director of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), was reported missing on Thursday. a mutilated corpse of the director with his head severed was also discovered on Saturday.

It was previously reported that the Ondo state government offered a N50,000 reward to anyone who helped security services apprehend criminals, particularly kidnappers.
