FRSC to prosecute drivers for overloading

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC is to commence arrest and prosecution of drivers engaged in overloading.

This is to complement the federal government’s huge investment in road infrastructure, and to ensure the safety of users.

The FRSC Zonal Commanding officer in charge of FCT and Niger State, Assistant Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed stated this during a meeting with transport Union Leaders on the Ember Months Campaign in Abuja.

Assistant Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed said the federal government was not happy with the attitude of motorists particularly commercial drivers in the area of overloading, violation of traffic lights, one way driving and other reckless driving.

He reminded them that the attitude of motorists in the FCT being the capital of the country speaks volumes about Nigeria to the international community.

The FRSC Zonal Commanding officer therefore appealed to Motor Park Executives to join hands with the traffic management agency in bringing sanity to the highways.

The FCT Sector Commander, Oga Ochi maintained that a special team including members of the transport Union have been mobilized to carry out full enforcement on drivers engaging in overloading.
