Reps quiz NERC over N8bn projected expenditure

The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has queried the projected expenditure of over eight billion naira for training, computers, and software technologies by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC.

The Committee queried the presentation of the commission, when its Chairman, Mr Sanusi Garba appeared at the resumed hearing of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework at the National Assembly.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Saidu Abdullahi explained that the committee was more interested in the prudent management of resources hence the need to know the actual remittances to the Federation Account.

Abdullahi therefore directed for a comprehensive report on NERC involving the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

The Chairman NERC, Sanusi Garba gave details of the projection to include two point five billion for computers, training to gulp over one billion while five billion is projected for hardware and software technologies.
