Police capture bandit, car snatcher

Zamfara State Police Command tactical officers have apprehended a notorious bandit and a member of a vehicle snatching syndicate.

The Bandit, Isiyaku Babangida ‘Male’, 32, was arrested after a gun duel between police and a gang of a notorious Bandits Kingpin Alhaji Bello who attempted to attack some communities in the state, according to SP Shehu Mohammed, who paraded the suspects.

SP Mohammed explained that the tactical operatives acted on intelligence information about the gang’s attempt to invade and attack some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas.

He said the officers moved quickly to the bandits’ enclaves and engaged them in a gun battle, from which the bandits withdrew and escaped with gun wounds.

SP Shehu explained that, two AK-47 rifles, two local fabricated guns and 236 rounds of 2.76mm live ammunitions as well as Charms were recovered.

The PPRO said, the member of a syndicate, Usman Umar ‘male’ aged 39 of Tudun wada Gusau, was arrested after receiving a complain from a staff of Zamfara State Government on the 23rd August, 2022 whose car’s windscreen was broken and Three Million four hundred and seventy three thousand and a computer laptop were stolen from the car.

He said the police in collaboration with the state government situation control room tracked and arrested the suspect who confessed to the crime.

According to him, he committed same crime in Borno, Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto States.

The Police urged members of the public to be security conscious while making transactions in banks and provide vital information to the police and other security agencies in the state.
