The Director General National Senior Citizens Centre NSCC, Dr Emem Omokaro has stress the need for more commitment to the welfare of older Persons in the country for their social Inclusion and contribution to the nation’s affairs
Dr Omokaro stated this in Abuja at a stakeholders meeting on the preliminary findings on the visit of the United Nations Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all Human Rights of older persons Dr. Claudia Mahler, to Nigeria.
Dr Omokaro, explained that the visit of the UN Expert on human rights of older persons would encouraged Nigerian government to do more for the Senior Citizens in line with the global practice.
The United Nations Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights of Older Persons Dr. Claudia Mahler, said delibrate effort should geared towards including older persons in all government policies and programmes.
Dr. Mahler, during her visit to Nigeria met relevant MDAs with the full participation of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), being the focal agency on ageing and older persons.
