Gunmen attack Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy in Anambra

Gunmen have attacked the convoy of Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra south senatorial district.

Police officers and some aides of the senator are feared to have been killed in the shootout, while their condition is yet to be ascertained.

The incident took place at Enugwu Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the Senator managed to escape as his car was riddled with bullets.

State police command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said details were still sketchy, and investigations had commenced.

He said the commissioner of police, CP Echeng Echeng personally led police operatives to the scene.

The situation is being monitored, further details shall be communicated, he added.

In a statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr christian Aburime, Governor Chukwuma Soludo condemned in strong terms, the attack by yet-to-be identified gun men on Dr Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy, Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

While condemning the attack, Governor Soludo said government is fully determined to wipe out every act of criminality in the State.

He reiterated that “this is the last ditched-effort of a sinking boat” by these criminal elements

He reassured that all security agencies are now on full alert to fish out the perpetrators of this henious attack, who will be made to face the full wrath of the law

The Governor commiserates with Dr Ifeanyi Ubah and families of his aides and the Policemen who also lost their lives.
