ASUU Strike: students cause gridlock on Ibadan-Ife Expressway

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) set up a roadblock at Gbongan Bypass that made hundreds of commuters stranded on Thursday along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway.

The students are protesting the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ nine-month-long strike (ASUU).

Addressing newsmen, Giwa Yisa Temitope, NANS spokesperson said that the students are tired of staying at home and immediate resolution of the disagreement between ASUU and the Federal Government remained their goal.

He noted that federal government was playing with the the future the students.

Students had blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday to protest the ongoing dispute between ASUU and the Federal Government.

On Wednesday, the students also blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to protest against the lingering dispute between ASUU and the Federal Government.

They blocked the inbound and outbound sections of the expressway.

Members of NANS said the protest has become necessary to immediate resolution of the face-off between ASUU and the Federal Government.
