President Zelensky involved in car crash

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has escaped a car accident, his spokesman Sergiy Nikiforov has said.

He explained that a car collided with the vehicle carrying the Ukrainian leader as his motorcade passed through Kyiv.

In Kyiv, a passenger car collided with the car of the president of Ukraine and escort vehicles. Medics accompanying the president provided the driver of the passenger car with emergency aid and transferred him to an ambulance’’, Nikiforov said in a statement posted on Facebook.

He said the president was not seriously injured, but the accident would be investigated.

Addressing the nation shortly after the accident, Zelensky said almost the entire Kharkiv region is de-occupied” after a lightning counteroffensive to dislodge Russian troops.

“It was an unprecedented movement of our soldiers – the Ukrainians once again managed to do what many thought was impossible,” Zelenskyy said.
