The action filed by the Federal Government contesting the continuing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been deferred till Monday by Justice Polycarp Hamman of the National Industrial Court for a hearing of the Federal Government’s interlocutory application.
Due to the urgency of the situation, according to the counsel for the Federal Government, James Igwe, he requested an accelerated hearing at the resumed session on Friday.
Mr Igwe stated that because the case was already in court, the strike should be called off until the case was resolved.
While ASUU’s counsel, Femi Falana, argued that the matter was delayed until Friday for further discussion and not a hearing,
He said ASUU was meeting with stakeholders to settle the conflict.
