Crack cocaine worth N193 billion was seized in a warehouse raid in Lagos by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
This is one of the largest single seizures of cocaine in NDLEA history, according to agency spokesman Femi Babafemi.
Authorities, he added, confiscated 1.8 tons (1,855 kg) of the narcotic from a warehouse in a remote estate in the Ikorodu neighborhood of Lagos, which is valued over $278, 250,000 (or approximately N194, 775,000,000).
According to Babafemi, a two-day investigation spanning many locations in Lagos State resulted in the arrest of 4 suspects, including a Jamaican and the warehouse manager.
He said that they were part of an international drug syndicate that the Agency has been tracking since 2018.
He said the success of the operation followed a collaboration and investigations by the United States’ Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA.
