Judges to undergo road safety training

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola says henceforth, judicial officers will be trained on road safety adjudication for effective handling of road safety and other related cases.

He stated this in Abuja on Friday at this year’s news Conference by the Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD), Foundation.

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola who emphasised that tougher penalties for non-compliance with road safety rules would improve safety on the nation’s highways appealed to the public to promptly render assistance to victims of road crashes.

The President Court of Appeal and Founder of KRSD Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem explained that creating awareness and synergy among stakeholders was key to addressing the menace of road crashes in Nigeria.

The Acting Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps Dauda Biu, represented at the event by Corps Commander, Anume Osuamkpe, said the Federal Road Saftey Corps (FRSC) as an agency would continue to sustain policies and programmes to ensure the safety of lives on the roads.
