The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 75-year-old grandfather, Usman Bahama (Clement) and 21 others across the country for allegedly being in possession of illicit drugs.
The suspects were arrested in raids carried out in seven states, the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Mr. Femi Babafemi has said on sunday in Abuja.
He said the septuagenarian was arrested, in Mayo Belwa council area of Adamawa state.
“it was discovered that he had an indian hemp plantation from where 49kg of the illicit substance was recovered,’’ he said.
The Director said 2,536kg of indian hemp were seized, while more than 10 hectares of Akuskura farms were destroyed in Edo and Adamawa.
The Chairman and Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the officers and men of Adamawa, Kwara, Lagos, Kano, Enugu, Kogi, Edo and MMIA commands for their resilience.
He urged them and others across the country to remain vigilant and committed to the collective goal of saving the Nation from the drug scourge.
