The Federal Government through the National Universities Commission (NUC) has directed Pro chancellors and vice-chancellors of Federal Universities to re-open their institutions and allow students resume lectures.
A letter by the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, to Pro-Chancellors and Vice Chancellors said the directive followed the judgement by the National Industrial Court to reopen universities.
The Letter signed by the NUC Director of Finance and Accounts, Sam Onazi, on behalf of the NUC Esecutive Secretary asked the VCs to ensure that ASUU members immediately resume and commence lectures, and also restores the daily activities of the various University campuses.
The National Industrial Court had on September 21 last week ordered ASUU to call off the ongoing nationwide strike.
