National Population Commission has concluded procurement of all necessary digital equipment for the conduct of 2023 population and housing census in the country.
Chairman of the Population Commission, Alhaji Nasir Kwarra, stated this during a stakeholders summit in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
He assured that the outcome of the census would change the country, noting that this is the first time digital equipment will be deployed for the exercise.
Alhaji Kwarra, represented by National Commissioner representing Nasarawa State at the Commission, Mr. Silas Agara, said the commission was ready for a transparent census that will produce acceptable results in line with the United Nations standards.
The Governor of Nassarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, while commending the National Population Commission for adopting full digital technology for accurate and credible census, expressed optimism that the outcome would place the state on the path of economic prosperity.
The summit brought together top government officials, traditional rulers, the academia, civil society organizations and heads of security agencies in the State.
The summit featured technical sessions including paper presentations.
