Reps minority caucus call for credible elections

The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives have urged the federal government to ensure that the 2023 general elections are credible.

The Caucus made the call in a statement issued by its leader, Ndudi Elumelu, congratulating Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.

It saluted the “resilience and commitment” of Nigerians towards national peace and development, despite the economic hardship and insecurity.

“Independence Day presents to leaders at all levels the occasion to rededicate themselves to selfless service in such a way that Nigerians can benefit from the abundant human and natural resources bestowed on our nation by God,” the statement said.

The Minority Caucus also called on the Federal Government to use the occasion to take more drastic measures to rescue Nigerians from terrorist’s dens, including the remaining victims of the Abuja/Kaduna train terrorist attack.

They also called for a speedy resolution of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to enable students in public universities return to their studies.
