City wallop United in Manchester derby at Etihad

Reigning EPL champions, Manchester City, thrashed city rivals, Manchester United 6-3 on derby day on Sunday afternoon, putting an end to any talk of rejuvenation from the Red Devils.

Norwegian international Erling Haaland and England forward Phil Foden both scored hat-tricks in the encounter.

Foden had never scored against United before, but got his team going and then flew to 51 goals for his club in style.

It was Foden’s first hatrick, but it’s becoming a habit for his teammate Haaland.

The former Borussia Dortmund goal-poacher had scored three goals in each of his previous two Premier League appearances at the Etihad, and completed a treble of trebles on Sunday.

His first two sandwiched between Foden’s first-half finishes came courtesy of more brilliant combination play between the striker and Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne, with the Premier League’s top scorer and top assist-maker producing some breath-taking moves to help make it 4-0 at the break.

His conversion from sub Sergio Gomez’s cross in the second half has taken him to 13 Premier League goals in just eight appearances.
