Murder: Police arrest medical director, two kidnappers

Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest in Edo state of the Chief medical Director of Kiama General Hospital, Dr Adio Adebowale who is alleged to have killed his girlfriend and one other person in the state.

The Command spokesman said the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State had shown interest regarding a reported case of one missing lady by name Nofisat Halidu in Kaiama, Kaiama Local government area of the state on November 21 last year.

According to the statement, investigation into the cases, at the Commissioner’s instance, promptly commenced; arrest was made which led to the confession of Dr Adebowale in Edo State, confirming that he killed one Ifeoluwa, his girlfriend who had been declared missing in Tanke area of Ilorin in 2021.

The police statement said further investigation led the team to Kaiama general hospital, where the suspect worked as the Chief Medical Director.

The suspect’s office was forced open and the decomposing body of an unidentified female was found buried in a shallow grave.

The statement also disclosed that further search of the office led investigators to the opening of a trash-can where another body of a lady, later identified as the earlier reported missing Nofisat Halidu, was discovered and identified by the husband, Mr Halidu.

Meanwhile, the command has also arrested two suspected kidnappers who reportedly abducted the traditional ruler of Owa Onire in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, as well as his wife and driver .

The statement said the police tactical teams, in collaboration with vigilante and hunters, rescued the wife of the traditional ruler .

It said the suspects are helping the Command in it’s effort to rescue the traditional ruler and his driver.
