A civil society organisation, Ebonyi-First Vanguard has called on the Inspector-general of Police and the National Security Adviser to take over the investigation of the armourer of Ebonyi State Police Command, Inspector Chika Elom, an ex-soldier James Agena and others suspected to be complicit in the ongoing communal war in Effium community of the state.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Director-general of the group, Monday Eze, insisted that due to the involvement of a sensitive officer of the State Police Command, such as the armourer and other influential persons, it was doubtful that the command would not be influenced.
Mr Eze expressed disappointment that the communal war, which started in January, 2021, in the Effium community of Ebonyi State wherein thousands of lives including women and children have been lost, has defied the Federal Government’s efforts to stop it.
He said the recent revelations and arrests have now confirmed the suspicion that some highly-placed people and security agents have compromised.
The Ebonyi state Governor, David Umahi had earlier told newsmen of the arrest of some security operatives suspected to be taking sides in the communal war.
