Ukraine set for joint bid to host 2030 World Cup

Ukraine is joining Spain and Portugal to bid for the hosting right of the 2030 World Cup.

In the development sanctioned by president Volodymyr Zelenskiy and the governments of Spain and Portugal, Ukraine would host one of the groups in the tournament under the plan, Reuters says.

The partnership will be announced by Spain and Portugal at a news conference at European governing body UEFA’s headquarters on Wednesday, the report added.

The 2022 World Cup will begin on November 20 in Qatar, while the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
