Buhari urges ICAN to curb mismanagement

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria on ways to end wasteful spending and mismanagement of government resources.

President Buhari stated this at the 52nd annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria with the theme: Nigeria Adopting Sustainability for economic prosperity in Abuja.

The President was represented by his special Adviser on Finance and Account, Dr Sarah Alade harped on the need for Financial reporting sustainability towards addressing the growing momentum of increased organization disclosure of environmental, social and governance information for the disclosure of Economic Sustainable Goal agenda.

The National President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Tijjani Isa said the conference would proper solutions to the different economic myriads facing the country.

‘There is an urgent need for the federal government to revisit the environmental, social and governance priorities at addressing creating the regulatory and infrastructural environments that encourage the transition to net-zero business models by enterprises”.Tijjani Isa stated.

President, International Federation of Accountants, IFAC, Dr Alan commended the strategic role ICAN played in Africa and Nigeria.

He explained the need for its members to work closely with public institutions to assisting the government achieve its financial actions that will develop the economic roadmaps

Dr Alan also maintained that financial reporting should not only be done, but recommendations implemented to achieve sustainability of the desired result.
