The National Population Commission, NPC, says it will employ indigenous technology companies for the 2023 population census.
It says it is in compliance with the Presidential directive on local content as well as global best practices, especially in the area of technology.
On Thursday, the leadership of NPC visited an indigenous technology firm, in Ilesa, Osun State including the workshops section where ICT gadgets are produced.
The Managing Director of the factory, Tosin Ilesanmi showcasing the 5,000 devices, daily assembly capacity of the factory assured the NPC that the factory was capable of delivering world class products and hand held devices, that will aid the success of the next National Population Census.
He noted that the factory successfully made products for the Federal Government through N-Power and FREE TV, and training over 20,000 youths under the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme Technology (OYESTECH), among others.
Addressing Journalists after the inspection, a Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission, Dr. Clifford Zirra said the facility tour, was to ensure that the agency contracts the best hands for the task.
Zirra added that the commission would ensure the partnership with competent indigenous companies to encourage local content, towards making the forthcoming census hitch-free, and acceptable to all Nigerians.
