Nigerian startup emerges global winner in Dubai tech expo

A Nigerian startup has emerged the global winner in the Supernova Challenge Pitch Competition at the ongoing Gulf Information Technology Expo (GITEX) 2022, Dubai.

The CEO of the start up, Khalil Halilu who was among the 2 Nigerian startups to enter the final stage of the competition was presented with a prize of $8000.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami described the victory as a win to all Nigerians and a clarion call for investors to invest in Nigerian Startups.

In a statement by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Minister says Nigeria won out of 90 countries and over 800 entries.

He said with the success, the future was certainly bright for the nation in digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

Director-General NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa said the solution winning startup tagged “Shap-Shap” would impact not only Nigeria but the global market.

The winner Halilu Khalil who expressed joy, promised to deploy the money judiciously and thanked the federal government for always supporting startups.
