Aggrieved contractors that supplied COVID-19 medical equipment and other items to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have protested nonpayment of money allegedly owed them by the administration.
The protesters blocked the entrance of the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja which caused gridlock, preventing vehicles from accessing the secretariat.
The protesters were demanding the payment of the balance for services rendered to the administration during the coronavirus pandemic.
Most of them held several banners, calling on the Minister of FCT, Mohammad Musa Bello, to act fast concerning their demands.
Some of the placards and banners had inscriptions such as “Dear Minister, put an end to this wickedness, pay COVID-19 contractors, We are tired of fake promises’, ‘we need our money now’, among others.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat failed; as the Public Relations Officer, Samuel Musa neither answered calls put to his telephone nor respond to SMS sent to him.
