Ebonyi receives N1.5bn to tackle landslide

The Presidency has released N1.5 billion Ecological Fund for the reconstruction of Ogwuma Edda Landslide in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.

Mr. Orji said the Council also released additional N1 billion from illegal deductions from excess crude account for the same landslide site reconstruction project.

He noted that the council revoked the Certificate of Occupancy of the affected area and acquired same to facilitate the take off of the project.

Mr. Orji said the Council approved the suspension of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power and the Special Assistant to the Governor on public utilities over street light diesel theft.

He said the Directorate of Security Services had been directed to investigate all staff of the Ministry of Power connected with the operation of street light.
