2023 Election: Bala tasks journalists on unbiased reportage

Bauchi Sate Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has called on Journalists to ensure unbiased reportage of the 2023 general elections, with emphasis on the need to avoid ethno – religious sentiments.

The Governor made the call during the 2022 FCT Minister’s Press Corps Retreat in Bauchi State, organized by FCTA for its correspondents.

Senator Bala Mohammed who was represented by his Media Adviser, Murktar Gidado also stressed the need for Journalists to truly hold the Government accountable to get them to meet the yearnings of the citizens, especially as it relates to rural infrastructure development for good Governance.

The Bauchi State Government noted that with objective reportage from Journalists in various sectors of society, transformation, justice and peace would be enhanced.

According to Governor Bala Mohammed, Inadequate basic amenities are critical challenges limiting the development of Area Councils in Nigeria, adding that effective reportage of the citizen’s needs, could bring the Government closer to the people at the grassroots.

The Chairman, of FCT Minister’s Press Corps FCT, Mr Hudu Yakubu who described the theme of the retreat tagged” The role of the Media in holding Area Councils Accountable On Rural Infrastructural Development” as apt, explained that the opportunity will offer the Corp a better approach to harnessing necessary information that would impact positively on residents.
