Zamfara lifts ban on political activities, opens markets

Zamfara state government has approved the immediate reopening of Gummi, Anka and Bukkuyum local governments areas, which were closed down last week.

The state commissioner for information, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara made this known in a statement in Gusau, the state capital.

Mr Dosara also announced that all towns, roads and markets recently closed by the government due to heightened insecurity in some parts of the state have been reopened.

The approval followed the satisfactory reports received on the security situation in the affected communities, he declared.

In view of the above, he said, government has lifted the embargo it enforced on political activities in the state, adding that people were now “advised to conduct themselves in accordance with the rule of law”.

The government will not compromise its constitutional responsibilities to the people of the state, the statement vowed, reassuring the people of the state of government’s commitment and determination to protect the lives and property of the citizens.
