FCT orders schools to reopen, security beefed-up

FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello

Following security alert given by the UK and US embassies in Abuja on Sunday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has called on security agencies to brace up for defense and protection of lives and property of FCT residents.

Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello made the call in Abuja on Tuesday at an emergency security meeting convened to brainstorm on issues concerning the security alert.

He charged the security agencies to do all within their powers to prevent any security breach towards protecting FCT residents from being harmed by criminals and other unscrupulous elements.

Malam Bello urged residents to remain calm that the security agencies were working assiduously to sustain law and order in the territory.

He maintained that the administration has not authorized the closure of any school, thereby asking schools that have closed to reopen forthwith.

The Minister further enjoined residents and visitors in Abuja to go about their legitimate businesses as all the security agencies have been fully mobilized to checkmate any form of intrusion into the FCT.

Malam Bello however advised residents to complement Government’s efforts by providing useful and timely information to security personnel to enable them carry out their functions efficiently.
