Jabi Lake Mall has been shut down, following growing security concerns in the Federal Capital Territory.
Management of the mall, via their social media said, “Jabi Lake Mall will be closed today, Thursday 27 October 2022. This decision has been taken in the overall interest of the safety of all staff and customers of the mall”.
At the beginning of the week, the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria released a travel advisory due to what it called “planned attacks on government buildings, places of worship, schools, market, shopping malls, bars and hotels.”
Tuesday, the US State Department authorised the departure of non-emergency employees and their families.
Since the renewed security threats, the Police announced a counter terrorism simulation exercise codenamed “Operation Darkin Gaggawa”.
Department of State Services (DSS) called for calm and the cooperation of Nigerians on useful information.
