Troops kill 7 terrorists in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Forest Sanity of the Nigerian Army have killed seven terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition in Kaduna.

In a statement by the spokesperson of the Army, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu said troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army killed the terrorists on Sunday while on clearance operations at Maidaro, Kagi Hill, Kusharki and Anguwan Madaki in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

During the exercise, troops received intelligence concerning the whereabouts of the terrorists

.In the fierce encounter that ensued, four bandits were neutralised, forcing others to flee in disarray, General Nwachukwu said.

In a separate operation conducted by another fighting patrol team of the Division, troops along Sabon Birnin-Zartake, Ungwan Lima Riyawa and Tungan Madaki general area, intercepted fleeing bandits from Kagi hill with close support by Airforce platforms, neutralising three terrorsts.

The military has said that during the clearance operation, troops recovered two AK47 rifles, one automatic pump action gun with three cartridges, three Dane guns, three locally-fabricated pistols with nine mm rounds and four motorcycles.

The statement also hinted that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them not to relent until terrorism and other criminalities are brought to an end in the North-West region.

It added that the General Officer Commanding One Division and Force Commander, Operation Whirl Punch, Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja appealed to all law-abiding citizens to continue to “support troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information” that will assist in the fight against criminal elements.
