The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed 11 persons dead and one unconscious in a ghastly accident close to the Four Corner Junction along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
The auto crash happened on Sunday night around 9:30 pm along Enugu/Port-Harcourt road near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Enugu State Command, Mr Joseph Toby, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Enugu.
Mr Toby said the accident followed a collision between a 14-seater bus with 12 occupants and a truck with a driver and his conductor.
According to Mr Toby, those on the 14-seater bus were making a night journey from Owerri, Imo State capital, to Kano.
He said FRSC marshals were deployed to the scene of the accident immediately after they were contacted by individuals, stating they called in the state fire servicemen immediately to the scene”.
Mr Toby advised motorists and passengers to refrain from the temptation of night travels and “learn to plan their journeys ahead of time during the day”.
