The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has urged the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria to be innovative in their assignment and register only professional town planners.
Mr. Fashola while inaugurating the Board in Abuja, said the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastation caused by flood in parts of the country called for advanced professional application of ethics.
He said challenges of urbanisation required their wealth of experience to address them and stressed the need for them to come up with far reaching ideas on how to develop safe modern cities in the country.
The Minister assured the Board that the Federal Government would give it the necessary support to carry out it’s statutory responsibilities.
President of the Council, Mr. Isiaku Kura, while assuring the Minister of their commitment, called for strict compliance to master plans of urban centers to reduce man made disasters.
