12 year old drowns in Kano

A 12 year-old boy, Ya’u Suleiman has drowned in a well in Rummawa Gabas in Ungogo Local Government Areea of Kano State.

In a statement, the Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, PSF Saminu Abdullahi says the agency immediately mobilized a rescue team to the well after receiving a distress call from a resident, Muhammed Musa around 6am on Friday.

The statement says the boy was retrieved from the well unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

It notes that the remains of Suleiman has been handed over to the village head of Rummawa Gabas, Alhaji Zaharaddini Sule-Ibrahim.

According to the statement, Suleiman, who was fetching water, mistakenly fell into the well while playing beside the well.

The statement urges the public to maintain safety conscious at all times and avoid sending underage children to fetch water from wells and streams.
