Twitter will on Friday inform its staff whether they will be laid off.
The decision followed the takeover of the firm by Elon Musk in a $44bn deal.
In an internal email, Twitter said the cuts are “an effort to place the company on a healthy path”.
“We will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday”
“We recognize this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward,” the memo read in part.
Meanwhile, the move has gathered mixed reaction from many criticizing the company for the short notice.
Some have also speculated that affected employees may take legal action against the tech company.
