In response to the gradual resurgence of traffic build up along Dutse Alhaji road, authorities of the FCT Administration over the weekend shut down the market for general clean up and renovation.
Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah who led the Dutse Alhaji team explained that the closure was done in agreement with the authority of the Bwari Area Council with a view to restoring sanity in the Market.
Comrade Attah explained that the FCT Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello was determined to keep the market clean at all times, towards ensuring that its operation does not impede smooth traffic flow in the area.
He said the removal of the illegal attachments within the market became necessary to avert unforeseen calamity in case of emergencies.
On his part, Linus Okoronkwo who is one of the affected makeshift shop owners, decried high cost of renting shops and appealed to FCTA and Bwari Area Council to look for possible ways of incorporating the attachments inside the market to enable the masses have access to trade too.
