Niger State Government has allocated three billion naira in 2023 budget for the recruitment of civil servants next year to augment the existing workforce.
Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Malam Zakari Abubakar stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on the 2023 budget breakdown.
Malam Zakari said it is part of efforts by the government to create jobs and reduce idleness among youths in the state to enhance their general wellbeing.
He however explained that the total estimated revenue of the budget would be derived from five sources namely; statutory allocation; value added tax, internally generated revenue and capital receipt among others.
According to him, Niger state government has earmarked N28bn for the ongoing Minna Bida road project while many other road projects will be looked into to provide an unhindered access for free movement of goods and services.
The Commissioner revealed that the highest allocation goes to the infrastructure sub- sector with over N53.4bn for the completion of state roads, about N1bn for the renovation of public buildings and over N7bn for the water sub-sector.
Malam Zakari Abubakar said N15.8bn goes to the health sector with N6.4bn for the renovation of 8 general hospitals, N5.5bn for the Primary Health Care and its activities while N200m will go to the provision of equipments at IBB Specialist Hospital Minna among others.
On November 3, 2023, Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello has presented N238bn budget proposal for the 2023 for approval by Niger State House of Assembly.
