Bandits demand N40m for 20 children abducted in Niger

Bandits have demanded N40million for the release of 20 children abducted at Kusherki in Rafi Local Government area of Niger state 21 days ago.

An Indigene of the area, Alhaji Auwal Usman told Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview in Minna that the bandits demanded for N40m as condition for the release of the children.

Alhaji Usman said the children abducted are from the ages of 4 to 10 years and called for concerted efforts by all and sundry to rescue them unhurt.

He appealed to the Niger state government and security agencies to come to their aid to secure the release of the innocent children.

Responding, the Niger State Commissioner of Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Umar maintained that the state government is not resting on its oars to rid the area off all forms of criminality.

Mr. Umar said the state government is working assiduously in conjunction with convention and non conventional forces to rescue those in captivity throughout the state alive and unhurt.

He added that they are winning the war already despite experiencing some casualties and applauded security agencies and vigilante for their gallantry.
