EFCC wants additional funds in 2023 budget

The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Abdurrashid Bawa, has urged the House of Representatives to allocate more funds to the commission in the 2023 budget to enable it to establish the proposed EFCC academy.

Mr Bawa made the call while defending the commission’s 2023 budget before the House committee on EFCC.

He stated that the N3bn was allocated for the project in 2021 and nothing was allocated to the commission this year for the project.

The EFCC boss explained that the academy would enable the commission to train its personnel to be a step ahead of criminals.

He noted that the project would cost N3bn as earmarked by the National Assembly, while the commission would require at least N50bn to execute the project.
