Aviation unions advocate forensic audit of industry’s projects

Unions in the aviation industry have called on the Federal Executive Council, FEC to carry out a comprehensive forensic audit of projects undertaken by the ministry of aviation in the Aviation Roadmap projects.

The unions during a news briefing in Lagos on Thursday expressed the belief that such audit would expose alleged wastage of public funds.

Secretary General, National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, Comrade Ocheme Aba said, FEC should halt further approvals on the airport concession programme, insisting it is titled away from national good.

According to him, FEC had not been given the full and accurate briefs about the airport concession and indeed the aviation roadmap.

“This is the least the Council can do in order to redeem itself, in the face of the accusation that the Federal Executive Council has so far been railroaded into giving consent to bad deals for the Country”, Comrade Aba said.

Other union leaders, the National Vice President Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, comrade Emmanuel Jaja and the National President, Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, Comrade Kabir Gusau called on Nigerians to join hands with them in the battle to tell elected leaders that the national assets do not belong to the privileged few.

They also called for the urgent review of the concession of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal 2, MMA2 which they alleged was operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation without a valid agreement with FAAN.
