NNPP presidential candidate Promises to recruit 1m soldiers

The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso says his administration will dialogue with aggrieved groups as part of efforts to address the security challenges bedeviling the country if elected.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen at Government House Abakaliki, Senator Kwankwaso explained that his administration would recruit one million personnel each for the military, police and Directorate of Security Service to ensure adequate provision of security in all parts of the country.

“We are familiar with some of the issues that are happening here in this country, That is why we have decided based on practical experience as a former Minister of Defence that Nigeria Military are too few, the number is so small, that is why you often hear people say they are over stretched. “

“Now we have to bridge the gap, within the first four years, we are planning to have about one million soldiers in this country, both the Airforce, Navy and the Nigerian Army. So also the Police from the strength of about two hundred and thirty today, we want to make them about one million. we are also going to increase the number of DSS.

“In Northern Nigeria today, people are very worried because those who are being attacked don’t know why they are being attacked.” he said.

Senator Kwankwaso noted that he was in the state to inaugurate the NNPP campaign office as the party plans to make an in road into the Southern Nigeria having become the party to beat in the North in the next coming Election.

Earlier in a courtesy call, Governor David Umahi represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe called on the Presidential Candidate to join hands with other patriotic Nigerians to rescue the country.
